Joe and Wishbone whirled
around. . . .
The rusty metal door at the base of the lighthouse had banged open. Standing there with one hand on the door was a gray-haired man who glared at them.
“Get off my light!” he roared.
Wishbone yipped. Joe felt his heart banging in his chest.His first thought, which was quite a wild idea, was that a ghost had appeared. He stammered, “I-I . . .
w-was ju-just tying—”
“Get back in the boat, Joe!” Rhonda called out, her voice sharp and urgent.
Joe jumped back down into the boat.
Then he picked up Wishbone and helped him get aboard, too.
The old man
stalked forward.
“Don’t come back!”
he thundered.
“Never come back!
Doom waits for ye
if ye set foot on
