This story happened before Cat Bearing Gifts. In that Joe Grey mystery, Misto remembers only scattered details of his moments with Lee Fontana. Now, in this interval between the yellow tomcat’s earthly lives, he is close indeed to Lee. In his spirit form, he sees more clearly through time and space and observes more sharply the temptations of evil that haunt the old convict.
